Update – Blackbeard’s Robbery

Following the reported robbery around 8:47pm Thursday 23 April 2015 at Blackbeard’s Beers Wines & Spirits, Grand Harbour, detectives from George Town Police Station are appealing to the public for their assistance in identifying the accused, captured in photograph. The CCTV time stamp is 6 minutes fast.

Detective Superintendent Mike Cranswick, officer in charge of the CID, is advising the public to be vigilant, and report any suspicious activity around liquor stores and commercial premises they see, especially, during the evening hours. He went on to say; ‘report any thing you see suspicious, regardless of the outcomes. The police would like to hear from you’.

Due to lighting in the store , the CCTV image shows the jacket worn as being a light green, but from eye witness accounts, it is black.

The lone male entered the store armed with a machete and made off with an undisclosed sum of cash. He is described as 5′ 9″ tall wearing long black pants, black shirt, black ski mask and gloves. The accused exited the store, and made his escape to the rear of Grand Harbour.

Any person who may have been in the area between 8:40pm and 8:50pm and saw anything unusual can contact the George Town Police Station at 949 4222 or anonymously, contact Cayman Crime Stoppers at 800 – 8477 (TIPS)

Armed robbery

At approximately 8:47pm, Thursday 23rd April 2015; police received a report of an armed robbery at Blackbeard Liquor Store located at Grand Harbour Shopping Centre on Shamrock Road.

Reports are that one lone male entered the store armed with a machete and made off with an undisclosed sum of cash. The culprit is described as 5′ 9″ tall wearing long black pants, black shirt, black ski mask and gloves. He exited the store and escaped to the rear of Hurley’s Supermarket.

No one was injured during the course of the robbery.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area and witnessed anything unusual to contact the George Town Police Station at 9494222 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 800- 8477 (TIPS)
