Cayman Islands: 345 FC B claim Boy’s Under 11 title

Yet another football first occurred this past Saturday, May 19 on the hallowed Annex Field turf as league newcomers 345 FC B claimed the Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) Boy’s Under 11 title with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Future SC.

Danny Lyne’s second half strike was enough to see off the boys from West Bay and secure the title on the last day of the Boy’s Under 11 regular season.

The 1-0 win capped-off a remarkable undefeated season for the newcomers and parents and players alike celebrated the momentous occasion following the game.

In other Boy’s Under 11 games, 345 FC A downed George Town SC 4-0 thanks to three goals from Christo Durrant and a strike from Chaz Ruddick.

Academy SC Lionfish squeezed by East End United FC 3-2 with Tamux Douglas and Ajani Carnegie erasing a two-goal deficit before Kaleb Barboram settled this encounter with a thunderous close-range shot midway through the second half. East End’s Derrick Russell and Taegan Williams scored very early in the game to give their team a 2-0 advantage, but they could not prevent Academy’s comeback.

In the lone Girl’s Under 13 game, Elite’s ‘scoring machine’ Stoyanna Stewart grabbed another four goals to secure a 4-0 victory for the 2018 Girl’s Under 13 league champions over George Town SC.

In the lone Boy’s Under 17 game, Future SC defeated Sunset FC 3-1 thanks to goals from Alexander Clarke, Barry Dre Tibbetts and Sabastien Bent. Oishin Megbough scored Sunset’s goal.

CIFA youth league games continue this week in the Girl’s Under 18 league, Elite SC play Sunset FC on Thursday, May 24 at 4:30 p.m. at the Ed Bush Field in West Bay.

The first round of the Boy’s Under 11 FA Cup begins this Saturday, May 26, as Latinos FC A take on Latinos FC B (9:00 a.m.), Sunset Rockets face George Town SC (10:00 a.m.), 345 FC A play Sunset Warriors (11:00 a.m.) and Academy SC Lionfish face league champions, 345 FC B (11:00 a.m.).

Future SC, Academy SC Stingrays, Bodden Town FC and East End United FC receive byes to the second round of the Boy’s Under 11 FA Cup, which are scheduled for Saturday, June 2.

Also on Saturday, May 26, Academy SC face Sunset Fusion in the final of the Girl’s Under 11 FA Cup at 9:00 a.m. at the Annex Field.
