UPDATE – Cayman: 2 dead in road accident East End/ Statement by Ministry of Health on Fatal Accident in East End

UPDATE- Police can now confirm the identities of the victims in Saturday’s fatal traffic collision (see below). They are, Mr. Lopez George Higgins, age 26, and Ms. Charlisa Titanya Chambers, age 27, both Jamaican nationals living in Cayman.

The RCIPS extends its condolences to the families of the deceased.

Police and emergency services are currently on the scene of a serious two-vehicle collision which occurred shortly after 3:00 this morning, 7 September, on Sea View Road in the vicinity of High Rock Drive, in East End, involving a car and a truck. The two occupants of the car where found unresponsive and have been confirmed deceased. The driver of the truck was not injured.

The road is currently closed to traffic as investigations continue, and traffic is being diverted through Frank Sound Road to enter East End. The road is expected to be reopened by 11:30AM.

Ministry of Health/Department of Environmental Health Statement on Fatal Accident in East End

GRAND CAYMAN (GIS) – The Department of Environmental Health confirms that one of its vehicles was involved in the fatal accident early Saturday morning (7 September 2019) in East End, which was previously reported by the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS).

The driver is uninjured.

The department is assisting the RCIPS with their enquiry and will make no further comment while the investigation is ongoing.

The Ministry of Health and the Department of Environmental Health extend condolences to the families of the deceased.
