Caribbean roots singer misses World Cup performance

From NAN

News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. June 15, 2018: A Caribbean roots singer set to perform at the kick-off of the 2018 World Cup Thursday missed the big gig due to travel issues.

Haitian-American singer and Miami native, Jason Derulo, was set to serenade soccer fans at the opening of the World Cup on Thursday but The ‘Tip Toe’ hitmaker failed to make it on time to perform the tournament’s anthem ‘Colors’ at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium as the competition kicked off in Russia.

The singer was apparently delayed en route to Moscow and was unable to take part alongside Robbie Williams. Russian soprano Aida Garifullina left to headline the event.

Derulo, 27, has sold more than 50 million singles and released the official Word Cup anthem on his YouTube channel earlier this year.
