News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Tues. Oct. 23, 2018: Two Caribbean roots celebrities are among those weighing in on the unprecedented flooding in the twin-island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago which has affected a reported 12,000 people.

Trinidad-born rapper, Nicki Minaj, said on Twitter she is “broken hearted to see this.”

On Instagram, Minaj reposted a lengthy post from Soca singer Bunji Garlin, alongside a photo of a home with water almost reaching the top of the doorway.

“Some parts in Trinidad are ok but a large number of areas look like this and worse and people have lost everything they possess,” Garlin wrote while adding that “there are a lot of people from abroad asking about assisting but they haven’t seen any info on how to do so, so we will gather what info we can.” Garlin later urged fans to support Habitat-TT.org and ITNACTT.org

Jamaican American rapper, Busta Rhymes, who recently collaborated on a single with Garlin, acknowledged the situation in T&T while posting on Instagram: “PRAYERS UP FOR ALL OF OUR PEOPLE OF TRINIDAD.”

On Friday, October 19, 2018, torrential rains resulted in widespread flooding mainly in Eastern and Central Trinidad where thousands say they have lost everything they owned.
