Caribbean Electric Utilities meet to discuss energy developments in the Caribbean: 2016 CARILEC CEO’s & Finance Conference, May 15-18th Cayman Islands

CARILEC, the Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation is an association of electric utilities, suppliers, manufactures and other stakeholders operating in the electricity industry in the Caribbean and Internationally. The association plays a vital role in providing its members’ with quality industry related training, technical reports, research, information sharing and disaster recovery assistance for member utilities. Caribbean Utilities Company, Ltd. (CUC) is the prestigious co- host of this year’s conference, as we also prepare to celebrate our 50th Anniversary with the people of the Cayman Islands.

President and Chief Executive Officer of CUC, Mr. Richard Hew, says, “This conference is one of CARILEC’s esteemed conferences and I am very pleased that CUC has the opportunity to co-host this event along with the celebration of our 50th Anniversary. The comprehensive agenda encompasses a dynamic keynote address from Henrietta Elizabeth Thompson former elected parliamentarian and Minister of Government of Barbados, panel discussions, presenter-led discussions and networking sessions to provide delegates with insight into contemporary issues relating to the energy sector and approaches to leading the Caribbean energy sector with a renewed vision. Over one hundred and twenty delegates attending have the opportunity to explore our Island and enjoy our famous Caymanian hospitality.”

CARILEC Executive Director Mr. Thomas Hodge stated, “This is the third time the conference is being held in Grand Cayman. The first time was in 1994 the same year CUC joined CARILEC and in 2009 when CARILEC celebrated its 20th Anniversary. This third conference shows the unwavering support CUC has towards the development of Caribbean Utilities, and energy growth in the region. We are honoured to host this event in Grand Cayman as our co-host CUC celebrates 50 years of service. We applaud CUC on achieving this grand milestone, and we are proud of the contribution that they have made to enrich the lives of the people of the Cayman Islands.”

Sharing and learning from the experience of other utilities is the raison d’être of CARILEC conferences. That is accomplished through formal presentations as well as through the numerous networking opportunities provided by the event.
