[Boris] Johnson’s £25K from Bahraini financier linked to Cayman Islands

From The Red Roar

Boris Johnson’s latest donations include £25,000 from a Bahraini financier with investments in private healthcare, Saudi Arabia and in the Cayman Islands.

Boris Johnson has accepted a £25,000 donation from an investor in Saudi Arabia and private healthcare who has a base in the Cayman Islands.

The money came from Hazem Ben-Gacem, a serving member of Tunisia’s national shooting team and co-chief executive of investment fund Investcorp. Company filings show that Investcorp’s UK branch is ultimately owned in the Cayman Islands, while the company’s website boasts of investments in Saudi Arabia and private healthcare firms that are active in the United Kingdom.

Other donations to Johnson revealed in the latest Register of Interests include another £2,000 from hedge funder and fox hunting enthusiast Johan Christofferson – this time in the form of a helicopter ride.

Another £10,000 came from David Ross, the co-founder of Carphone Warhouse who resigned from the company and from his post on Boris Johnson’s 2012 Olympics organising committee after failing to declare his use of company shares to secure a series of personal loans. Former UKIP donor Robin Birley handed Johnson another £1,400.

Johnson also enjoyed a £12,000 victory bash at Brown’s Hotel, co-owned by Vote Leave donor Rocco Forte and, err, the Italian government
