Be at ‘Part of the Art!’ Cayfest 2013 | What’s Happening at CNCF

327Calling all performing artists, visual artists, crafts people, culinary artists and arts & culture enthusiasts!…

On Saturday February 23rd, from 4pm to 12 midnight, delicately tucked in the midst of colour-saturated trees and shining lakes, the F.J. Harquail Cultural Centre will be transformed for the ‘Red Sky at Night’ festival!

We are delighted to invite you to bring your talents and creativity and be a ‘Red Sky at Night’ Star! How you display your work within your assigned space is up to you. Be as creative and innovative as you wish. But hurry! Space is limited, so be sure to apply now.

TREE DECORATING COMPETITION – As part of the ‘Red Sky at Night’ festival CNCF will host a one of a kind Tree Decorating Competition! Winners of the best dressed tree will be featured in the CNCF eNewsletter sent to +5,000 individuals, each team member will be awarded with a CNCF gift pack with tickets to the show Rundown. The winning team will also receive a grant of $1,000 to give to a local non-profit arts organisation of their choice. Click here to download a copy of the Tree Decorating Competition registration form.

Cayfest

Cayfest, The Cayman Islands National Festival of the Arts, is Cayman’s finest showcase of local talent. With an eclectic mix of visual arts, music, theatre, film, fashion design, and cultural discussions, this festival has an emphasis on local arts and culture. At the same time the festival stimulates and inspires local artists by including a diverse range of participants.

Some highlights of the Festival include films from the ever-popular Travelling Caribbean Film Showcase (TCFS), the National Arts Awards, a Historical Treasure Hunt and the work of countless local artists and arts organisations!

National Arts & Culture Awards Announced • February 21st

Dress for Culture Day • February 22nd

Join CNCF in celebrating Cayman’s cultural tapestry by dressing up in your country colours or national dress. This is an island-wide event and donations raised will go directly to CNCF youth and cultural programming. ‘Red Sky at Night’ festival • February 23rd 

This is your chance to be a part of the art! On Saturday, February 23rd from 4pm to 12 midnight, delicately tucked in the midst of colour-saturated trees and shining lakes, the F.J. Harquail Cultural Centre will be transformed for the ‘Red Sky at Night’ Festival! This will be an enchanting evening, rich in arts and culture. Walking through the garden, you’ll be treated to live performances from dancers, actors and storytellers as well as creative work by local visual artists and crafts people. Celebrated films from around the Caribbean and inspiring performances will be featured within the festival theatres. You will be escorted by the sounds of the steel pan, fiddle and drums and lured by a mouthwatering array of local culinary delicacies. Join us in remembering and discovering, all the reasons we love arts and culture in the Cayman Islands!

Historical Treasue Hunt • February 23rd
As part of Cayfest 2013 the Department of Tourism will host a Historical Treasure Hunt on festival day in Bodden Town. More info to come!
