Another Highwater Christmas for the CICC

HIghWater 2013 Sarah Allison SabrinaThe fifth annual HighWater Community Christmas party raised more than US$13,800 in cash as well as numerous gifts for the families supported by the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre.

Every year, HighWater hosts a Christmas Champagne brunch at Abacus for their friends in the local community who are asked in return to contribute money or gifts in support of the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre. Attendees at the Champagne breakfast can drop their kids off at Regal Cinema to enjoy snacks and a supervised movie while their parents share in the festivities of the season.

HighWater’s Darren Stainrod was very pleased with the result:  “We feel grateful to have such generous friends and colleagues within the hedge fund industry, who continue to give so much for such a worthy cause”.

Cayman Islands Crisis Centre board member and chair of the fundraising committee Allison Clark expressed heartfelt gratitude for the donation:  “we recognise that this is a community effort by Cayman’s hedge fund industry, but we are especially grateful to HighWater for coming up with this idea and for choosing the Crisis Centre as the sole beneficiary.  We appreciate HighWater’s understanding of our need, particularly at Christmas”.

The Cayman Islands Crisis Centre is Cayman’s only women’s shelter and provides emergency assistance as well as longer-term support to female victims of domestic violence and their children.  The funds raised at the HighWater Christmas party will go towards the $500,000 operating budget required to keep the shelter open.

Now in its 10th year of operation, the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre has housed more than 700 women and children since it first opened its doors.
