Taste of Cayman is celebrating its 25th Anniversary on Saturday 26th January 2013. The event this year will be held at the Camana Bay Festival Green, and we are very excited to return the event to our roots!

Taste of Cayman began in the late 80’s with a small number of restaurants from the Cayman Islands Restaurant Association meeting in a field to compete in a Chili Cook Off. The event has now grown to what it is today, with over 45 restaurant and distributors participating in an open air event that comprises of an attendance over 5,000 people.

The 25th anniversary of Taste of Cayman will focus particularly on Cayman culture, heritage and cuisine. The “All Things Cayman” feature area will be a focal point of the festival and will be both appetising and entertaining. Don’t miss out on this chance for tantalizing food and incredible wines!

Chef Profile: Chef Anthony Le Pape

Originally from Brittany, France, Chef Anthony Le Pape is a true favourite of the Cayman culinary scene. His roots in cooking began with his grandmother, who encouraged and inspired him to become a chef. He wisely took her encouragement, and it is to our benefit that he wields his knives, pots & pans so well! In addition to the great skill in the kitchen, Chef Anthony also was recognized for his managerial skills and earned the title Manager of the Year in 2009 for The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman.

When not working to cook up delicious foods (such as our favourite, mushroom soup!), Chef Anthony can be found in and around water. He loves to go boating and diving.

While his favourite food to nosh on after midnight is the very run-of-the-mill chocolate, Chef Anthony has a few unusual dishes under his belt, including a pigs ear salad he thinks is his most unique creation. He says that countryside pate is the one food item he could never live without! No matter what he prepares, Chef Anthony feels that his secret to maintaining a neat and orderly experience is to season your food–and clean–as you go!
