Somewhere deep within the jungles of Guatemala, little Mia, an 18 th month old toddler, is rescued from extreme hunger and malnutrition, carried up river on a horse for many miles to a haven of refuge . On the streets of Mexico City, the street children are left alone to fend for themselves and their families for food and shelter. In the streets of India, little notice is given to a child of age 5 taking care of two smaller toddlers in the bustling streets of thousands of people. They are alone, and looking for food.

Even more heartbreaking are the horrific effects of AIDS and civil wars within the countries of Africa, including close to 18 million orphans left behind by AIDS in the Sub Saharan African countries.

The Stars Foundation, along with other supporting NGO’s, called for government leaders’ recently to stand together and commemorate World Orphans Day (November 9, 2015) with a call to action to join forces for advocacy and financial support for the most vulnerable children in the world.

The Stars Foundation’s, CEO, and Founder of World Orphans Day Cheryl Piggott stated, “It’s a tragedy that the poverty level is at a crisis point resulting in the fact that every 6 seconds a child dies from malnutrition. With 60,000,000 children going to bed hungry at night, and over 153,000,000 children orphaned according to UNICEF, our world is in a global crisis and we must improve the living conditions of the children of the world”.

“We are grateful for the actions of public awareness and advocacy on behalf of the children from our Patron Hosts Prince Selassie of Ethiopia and King Kigeli V of Rwanda, along with our Ambassadors of Goodwill; Geoff Bodine, Buddy Jewell, Brad Maule, Rockie Lynne, Ms. North America Globe 2014 Kathy Polston Dalton, and support from country music star Vince Gill. We are moving forward with an agenda for Washington and the United Nations to work cooperatively to help bring solutions to the problems”.

Troy Miller, President of the National Religious Broadcasters Network, (NRB Network) served as a first year Honorary Chairman from the USA, and broadcasted this fall’s Public Service Announcement which featured Brad Maule and Country artist Buddy Jewell. NRB Network is distributed to 45,000,000 households in the USA.

Patron Hosts of World Orphans Day, Prince Ermias Sahle Selassie of Ethiopia,(left) and King Kigeli V of Rwanda (right), along with the Ambassador-at -Large, Janet McElligott, and the AMICAALL Uganda organization represented by more than 200 mayors and urban leaders, have united in support as one voice for the orphans and destitute children of Africa and third world countries.

Cheryl and her husband Chaplain Roger Piggott attended a special event in Scottsdale, Arizona that commemorated World Orphans Day.

While in town, they joined board members and supporters to enhance the ongoing work with military
children left behind by our USA fallen heroes and wounded warrior’s disadvantaged children.

Plans are being developed to build a facility on a lakeside 300 acre parcel of land at the Wild Horse Ranch in Wyoming. The Initiative is being called the Victory Mountain Project and The Stars Foundation is looking for corporate, celebrity and nonprofit partners that will significantly contribute to the building campaign. It will also establish a training center for youth leaders from around the world.
