Cayman Islands: FURTHER UPDATE -Roads in West Bay blocked due to motor vehicle collision

Update: MVA This Morning, 13 March, on Birch Tree Hill Road

Birch Tree Hill Road in West Bay is still blocked as a result of this morning’s accident.   CUC is in the process of replacing a light pole that was struck.  It is expected that the road should reopen by 2:30PM.

The two occupants of the fire truck were both checked at hospital and released. The man on the pedal cycle is in hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

MVA This Morning, 13 March, on Birch Tree Hill Road

This morning sometime after 8AM, a fire truck responding to a dispatch struck a man on a pedal cycle along Birch Tree Hill Road.  The man was taken to Cayman Islands Hospital, and has serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

Police are still on scene investigating the incident, and will advise when the road is opened.

Serious Motor Vehicle Collision on Birch Tree Hill Road This Morning, 13 March

9AM – Police and emergency personnel are on the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision on Birch Tree Hill Road, which is currently blocked to motor vehicle traffic to Apple Blossom Road, inclusive of Stadium Drive.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area until further notice while police carry out enquiries.
